The austral Summer treats us with long days, ideal to celebrate the Fuegian nature with a dinner in the light of seemingly endless sunset.

Esmeralda Lagoon is an active, hiking tour for those who enjoy walking and being outdoors in contact with Nature. It is also a great opportunity to see the wonderful color of Laguna Esmeralda, and the evening colors of the mountains.

The excursion starts from our office around 2:30 PM, with a bus ride to the Tierra Mayor Valley, the starting point of a medium-difficulty hike to visit the Esmeralda lagoon. The difficulty of the hiking activity is given mostly by the type of terrain, and not so much by the presence of steep slopes. In fact, the inclination of the trail is very smooth until you get closer to the lagoon, where it becomes a bit more demanding for a short distance. This walk will take us through a forest and then through a peat bog, which can be very wet. Only if the guide considers it absolutely necessary, he will offer you rain boots (Wellies) to wade some boggy parts. Please make sure to pack or hire the adequate footwear for this tour!

Families with children under 12 years of age can request a "Tailor Made Trip" based on this tour.

The lagoon is beautiful, and so are the mountains that enclose it. When returning from the walk, and completing around 3 hours of hiking to and fro the lagoon, we will exploring this area, before a copious dinner (snacks and lentil stew). A good Patagonian red wine, in a cabin overlooking the valley of Tierra Mayor will be the perfect place where to wait for the sun to come down. The return time to Ushuaia is estimated to be around 10 PM.

"I have spent 3 days in Ushuaia. For 2 days I have used the Canal Fun and Nature tours and I must say there are among the best Tour operators i have ever used all around the world. Specifically the tour at Laguna Esmeralda was funny. Valentin was a very good and friendly guide. The dinner prepared by Nico was good and the dinner itself inside the "cabana" was very charming. So, if you are going to spend some days in ushuaia Canal Fun I really suggest you this company."

"Fantastic- from booking all the way through! Arriving at the office in Ushuaia everyone was very friendly and welcoming! Laguna Esmeralda was absolutely beautiful and our guide Valentine was great - very knowledgeable and made it a wonderful afternoon! Dinner and Malbec by the fire in the log cabin was the best way to end a fantastic outing! Thank you"

Amazing experience, great Team!

"We booked 3 trips with Canal Fun: National Park ( half day), Laguna Esmeralda trekking + beavers and Off road Lakes. They also helped us to reserve the Wlaking with Pinguins in Martillo Island with a third party company Pira tour, the only company that has permissions to get off on the island and allow you to walk with the Penguins. Our contact with Canal Fun was very easy. Carlos was very kind and patient in answering all our emails. Our guide Joaquim was amazing! He was very knowledgeable about the places we visited. He integrated the whole group, sent photos to our emails, and made everyone feel very comfortable. Eduardo was our off road driver and guide! Very special experience .He and Joaquim cooked us a great Christmas meal, parrilla Argentina, delicious beef and chorizo plus Fin del Mundo Malbec wine in a cabaña in the middle of the forest!! Canal Fun thank you very much for a wonderful time!!"

Fun trip

"We booked a Canal Fun trip to Esmeralda Lagoon and meet the beaver trip. It was well organised, they knew our food preferences and hotels for drop off, and it was fun. It was a very challenging walk to the lagoon and our guide went for a swim in the freezing water. He brought hot drinks and snacks to the Lagoon and we had lollies along the way. Unfortunately we didn't see any beavers but had a lovely meal and wine in a shelter before we returned to Ushuaia. The group was mixed Spanish and Aussies and our guide spoke good English. Everyone mixed really well. If you are up for the trek it is a terrific trip."

everything was well-organised
