Gable Island is the tour for those who arrive in Ushuaia in search of the end of the world. This active, full-day excursion takes us on a trip by land, to navigate the Beagle Channel and to walk and discover one of the wildest and most beautiful places in Tierra del Fuego. In a context that summarizes the history and natural variety of Tierra del Fuego, we can see traces that the first inhabitants, the Yamana, and the first white settlers left here.
Far from the tourist crowds and right in the middle of the Beagle Channel, this place recommended worldwide by word of mouth, offers us intact nature, and history speaks to us here in the present tense. This area shows an infinite and primordial landscape, magical and extreme. Surrounded by sea and silence, where only the wind and birds are heard, you can experience the sensation of being alone in the world, and in touch with Nature.
From the hotel, we leave Ushuaia to the East. First along National Route Nº3 through mountains and valleys, then the "J" route takes us into the forest. As we leave the forest we will be in Brown Bay, one of the panoramic points where we will see how the trees grow in the constant wind. We will then arrive at Estancia Harberton to take a motor boat in the direction of Isla Martillo. From the boat we can see penguins in their breeding site. The navigation in the motor boat continues then to the main attraction of the day: the huge Gable Island, where lunch awaits us with a good Patagonian wine, soda and mineral water.
After a coffee, we hike to explore the wonderful landscape of this island, its beautiful views, and to find beaver dams in the forest, and also the beach, where we will meet the boat that will take us back to Puerto Harberton, and to our bus that will leave us back to the hotel past 6 PM.

"The best excursion!!!! Was an amazing tour, and Ana the guide was very professional and informative, a different way to explore The End of the world!!!"
"All tours were amazing. Very organized, good ponctuality and experienced guides. If you do the 4x4 tour, ask for Eduardo. He’s entertaining and knows A LOT about the region."
"We were guided by two different guides on two different trips. Both guides were outstanding and the trips were well organized, safe, informative and a ton of fun. This is a very professional well-run out fit. I would highly recommend them if you would like guided hiking in Ushuaia."
"We had a wonderful experience visiting Gable Island and seeing the penguins up close. Our boat captain and guide, Franco, aka Frasco, were terrific. He took us on a very nice hike after the penguins that included a really fine lunch in a rustic shack prepared on-site. It was one of our favorite days in Ushuaia."
"Canal Fun & Nature has masterfully curated this trip. The trip to Gable Island was a once in a lifetime experience. We got to see penguins, sea lions and an assortment of birds. We also had an amazing lunch located in a old ranch building in the Beagle Channel. Although we were in an amazing place, the experience was further enhanced by the knowledge and personality of our guide Frasco. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone considering a trip to Gable Island."
"If you visit Ushuaia, I highly recommend booking your outdoor activities with Canal Fun. The treks were amazing (Turquoise Lagoon/Cerro Cabrajal, and Glaciar Vinciguerra), and the visit to Harberton Ranch & Gable Island is highly recommended (not just the penguins! amazing sea birds, interesting hike across multiple ecosystems, and a very fun lunch grilled by your guides!)."
